still very active today, we sell document imaging software to the
business community. The truth is this enterprise would have failed if
we only relied on the brick and mortar offline world to market our
software. Why? Because the local market was too small to succeed.
By marketing online we were able to take a business that couldn’t
survive in the brick and mortar world, and made it hugely successful
by marketing it over the Internet. We acquired customers that we
could have never reached offline such as: the US Naval Command
Center, Langley Air Force Base, Whirlpool, Procter & Gamble, and
the list goes on.
Here is another example. We know of a local bakery in Wisconsin
that started their business marketing their Dutch Pastries called
Kringle’s to the local market. Today they ship over 1,000,000
Kringle’s throughout the U.S. because of the Internet.
These success stories are only possible because they turned to the
Internet to market their products. They learned how to make money
online.
Do you have a service to sell?
Do you have special skills that someone is willing to pay for? If they are willing to pay for your services offline, they
will be willing to pay for them online.
Maybe you are a good writer and people would pay for you to write ad copy, or website content. On the other hand,
you may be good at website design, and someone would pay you to design their website for them. You may have a
great voice, and someone would pay you to do voice over’s for online ads.
If you have a service to offer, one that doesn’t restrict you to your local market, you can market and sell that
service online.
Do you have specialized knowledge to share?
Most people use the Internet to find information about a problem they want solved. Perhaps you possess the
knowledge to solve that problem. If you do have specialized knowledge, people are willing to pay for good
information.
We know of a very successful online business where the owner shares his knowledge on how to train dogs. Another
business, coaches people on how to live a healthy lifestyle and is hugely successful.
Selling specialized knowledge is an enormous market on the Internet and it is a great way to make money online.
What if you don’t have a product, a service, or specialized knowledge to sell online;
what do you do?
The answer is simple; you sell someone else’s product or service. In the online world, this is called affiliate
marketing. Many online businesses want other people to sell their products or services and are willing to pay you a
commission. All you need to do is find a product or service that people in your niche want, then you can market it to
them on the Internet.
Step 2 is to learn how to market online.
It’s an irrefutable fact that if you want to make money online… you must learn how to market online.
